This is the notepad related to my investigation of global warming. Along with a related blog, I will use this set of pages to accumulate knowledge on this subject.

Definition

Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans in recent decades, and its projected continuation. In the broader sense, it is also the environmental impact of this warming on the planet.

Global warming is an example of the broader climate change which includes global cooling. It is a neutral term when applied to periodic changes in overall climate. But in the common usage today, it specifically refers to the rise in average temperature mentioned above.

I'm going to use this as a working definition as I explore this important subject. I will probably refine it as my exploration proceeds.

Consequences

The possible consequences of global warming are what makes it so important to understand and get a handle on the human involvement:

• Increased sea levels making much of our coastlines uninhabitable
• Changed precipitation patterns making some areas dryer while others may become much more wet
• Increased intensity and possibly frequency of extreme weather events such as hurricanes, tornados, floods, droughts and heat waves
• Species extinctions as habitat changes

Saving God's Creation

I have started looking at our responsibilities in a new light thanks to my kids. In this [section], I explore our obligations as believers to be caretakers of God's creation.
