Introduction

This is a page about the process of communication by writing to the web. It is primarily focused on tools which help with the Thinking Process. I am working on some of these in the tools themselves and will use this page to publish my findings.

The Thinking Process

This section describes the Thinking Process. It is more about how I think that what I use to help me think. It forms the basis of my consideration and evaluation of tools.

Acquiring / Capturing

If you are like me, you have lots of ideas. Things strike you as funny, profound, interesting, intriguing, . . . but they strike you all the time and at the oddest times. You need a set of tools which will allow you to capture the idea and not loose it.

Organizing / Expanding

After capturing the idea, you then need a tool which will allow you to take that raw idea and turn it into something more organized. If the idea is worth pursuing, then you need to bring in the various elements of the idea and turn them into something viable.

Illustrating

These are tools which allow you to express your ideas as images, diagrams, in ways other than text. Some of this is in the capturing phase, but these tools allow others to view your idea in more expressive ways.

Refining

OK, you have organized and expanded the idea, now it's time to do the editing. This is where you refine your idea, prune off the excess and shape the idea into something worth someone else's time to read.

Publishing

This the final process of editing and publishing your idea. Here, it takes its final form and is set free into the world.

Thinking with a Wiki

I'm combining my thoughts about thinking with those about wiki's to see what pops out.
